You may want to update the firmware of the ethernet card where you used on VMware. There are lots of ways to upgrade the firmware of an hardware and the ways always changes according to manufacturers, but we are going to update the firmware to the connect to ESXI host via SSH. In our case the product is HPE, and the model is DL380 Gen10.
First let’s enable SSH on ESXI host, and connect it via SSH, then download the given link below, and extract it.
- Upload the extracted folder to the /tmp folder.
- Upload the file named CP045013_VMw.zip where is located in CP045013 folder to the /var/log/vmware folder.
If you done the previous steps, download HPE Broadcom NX1 Online Firmware Upgrade Utility for VMware on HPE website by visiting the link given below.
Note : It is better you to check it out the versions according to your environment that you use.
Now you can follow the instructions below step by step, and you will see the similar outputs.

We updated the firmware of the ethernet card via SSH, but it didn’t solve our problem and on vCenter we still see that it is still incompatible device on the host. I hope that in the next release of WMware will be solved.
